hay una sucesión de signos ortográficos que en lo personal me gusta mucho: los puntos suspensivos. qué es lo que encuentro tan interesante en estas tres minúsculas entidades? simple: el infinito…
podríamos comenzar por preguntarnos qué es un punto? un punto es la representación gráfica de un instante en el espacio. simplemente expresa "algo" que sucede en un preciso lugar y en un preciso momento –ni más ni menos. gracias al filósofo francés descartes pudimos acercarnos, matemáticamente a intentar expresar de una manera gráfica un punto, a situarlo. parece absurdo que intentemos representar algo que, simple y sencillamente no existe, pero así es el ser humano y eso es a mi parecer lo que nos diferencia de los animales (bendita evolución cerebral): buscamos representar lo inexistente.
pero ortográficamente, y para cuestiones del lenguaje el punto determina el lugar en donde acaba una sentencia. es el punto el lugar en donde la oración muere, de donde nace la siguiente. es el punto en donde una idea termina y da paso a un párrafo nuevo, a una idea nueva. es el punto, en donde acaba una historia, una vida, un mundo imaginario y, al parecer de manera casual llegamos al final de la representación gramatical de lo inexistente.
pero el fin da paso a la eternidad. si ese punto que marca un límite se repite (las reglas son claras: tres puntos) nos da paso a algo inesperado, nos da paso a lo infinito…
al ver tres puntos sobre el papel, el lector se ve forzado a hacer un ejercicio intelectual: qué sigue? y es lo interesante de los tres puntos, el lector se vuelve un agente activo en la trama de la historia, se vuelve el escritor, se vuelve el que continúa la frase. es así como el escritor trata de captar la atención del lector: con tan sólo tres puntos.
los tres puntos dejan siempre esa puerta abierta: una puerta que sólo el lector sabe hasta dónde y hasta cuándo cerrar. son esos tres puntos los que nos marcan la pauta a seguir, si es que queremos.
así, lo que me gusta de los tres puntos es esa opción de interactuar, de volverme un poco más eterno; seguir las huellas del punto pueden llevarme a lugares inimaginables. los tres puntos son la sencilla y modesta puerta al infinito: por lo general, una puerta que está abierta a todos, pero por nuestra literal ceguera pasan frente a nuestros ojos, puntuales, indiferentes, silenciosos, discretos…

we could begin asking ourselves what is a dot? a dot is the graphic representation of an instant in space.it simply represents "something" that happens in a precise place in a precise moment -no more, no less. thanks to french philosopher descartes we could mathematicaly aproach, to trying to express graphicaly a point (dot), to situate it. it seems absurd to try to represent something that, simply doesn't exists, but we humans are like that and that is, on my opinion, what makes us different from animals (holy brain evolution): trying to represent the unexistance.
but ortographicaly, and for matters of language the perido determines the place where a sentence ends. is the point the place where the sentence dies, where the next one borns. is in the point where an idea ends and gives a step to the next paragraph, to a whole new idea. is in the point where a story ends, a life, an imaginary world and it seems we reach, on a casual way, to the end of te gramatic representation of the unexistance.
but the end gives reason to eternity. if this point that marks a limit is repeated (the rules are clear enough: three dots) it opens the way to something unespected, it opens the way to infinite...
when seeing three dots on the paper, the reader is being forced to make an intelectual exercise: what's next? and that's the interesting thing of the three dots. the reader comes active on the history he's reading. he becomes the writer, he becomes the one that continues the phrase. thats how the writer tries to catch the readers attention: with just three dots.
three dots always leave that door open: a door that only the reader knows where and when to close. those three dots marks us what to follow, if we want to.
so, what i like from the three dots is the option to interact, to become a bit more eternal; following the dot steps could take me to inimaginable places. the three dots are the modest and simple gate to infinite: generally a gate that remains open to all of us, but by our literally blindness passes all the way in front of our eyes, punctually, indifferent, silent, discreet...
